That is, were you seeking to settle your mind? Have greater physical flexibility? Explore your true, spiritual nature?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I&#8217;d hurt my back doing Shakespeare and after occupational rehab had succeeded some, I decided to give yoga try in addition<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-111 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/12yogaquestions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/palmer-265x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"300\" \/>How about now: does yoga feed your mind or your body or your spirit more, or are those elements more in balance than when you started?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>feeds them both equally \u2014 and they&#8217;re more in balance when I&#8217;m practicing regularly<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>How long have you been practicing yoga?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>since 2010&#8230;. though I first dabbled while in acting school back in 1985<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>How frequently do you practice yoga?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>very irregular \u2014\u00a0 I like to do it twice a week \u2014\u00a0I do a few yoga stretches every day, but sometimes (like now) a month might go between sessions<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Are you more likely to attend classes at a studio or practice yoga at home?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>at a studio in a gym, though I did it at home during Covid (via an online instructor)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you have a preferred yoga style?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>any style works<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>When you were starting out, what came easiest and what was more challenging?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>easiest was breathing and settling my mind \u2014\u00a0 most challenging was I&#8217;m just not very limber<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>What have been the greatest benefits of yoga for you?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>it&#8217;s great for my back, my spirit, my flexibility, and it seems to help me with weight loss<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apart from yoga, do you practice other techniques of mindfulness or meditation?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I walk and swim a good deal, but the meditation which occurs only comes naturally while doing for the most part<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you regularly do other forms of exercise?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>yes: swimming, weightlifting, walking<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Outside of a yoga session, do you ever just strike a pose and stretch?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>not really, though like mentioned before, I do a few yoga stretches every morning&#8230;. most involving my low back and legs, plus the cow and cat<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If I gave you an expenses-paid yoga retreat, where would you go?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I&#8217;m easy \u2014 wherever&#8217;s expenses-paid \u2014 the whole world&#8217;s interesting to me<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u2014interview \u00a9 Marshal Zeringue<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yoga is a holistic experience for many &#8212; mind, body, spirit &#8212; but did one element or another first draw you to the practice?
